A little strange

After a very hot day, this could not have been a more pleasant place to wander. Only one small slip up…our order of 3 tapas, two of each kind, turned out to be about 9 of each kind. A young couple nearby was only too glad to help. The Camino provides!

I’m going to go back and post some highlights even though we’ve had to take a fairly large detour on our Camino. And since I am in the US at the moment, it seems like a good time to play catch-up. After our very wet first day and beautiful evening, we had a relatively short 14 km walk the next day to Hospital de Orbigo, an ancient town with a beautiful bridge of 19 arches. Some think Don Quixote inspired by this 13th century legends. Sam kept making inanimate friends, as you will see in some of the photos.

and now for some bad news: my uncle (my dad’s brother) died a few days ago. the pilgrims have scrambled to get back to the states and ARE back home for one night. we are all convening in oklahoma later today. no solid info yet on what this means for the camino, but my guess is that it is postponed for a good long while.
