(from sam) We’re back on the trail! The sidewalk in Sarria was lined with mosaics. This one shows the symbol of the Camino—the shell, along with the symbol of the Knights of Templar, who protected the pilgrims in the 13th and 14th centuries. (Is this date right?)

and now for some bad news: my uncle (my dad’s brother) died a few days ago. the pilgrims have scrambled to get back to the states and ARE back home for one night. we are all convening in oklahoma later today. no solid info yet on what this means for the camino, but my guess is that it is postponed for a good long while.

this is a photo we received from a strange man’s email address late last night. she looks like she had walked about 16 miles that day (and she had!). the map shows where she was earlier today, 23 km later.
